4/365: Islands in the Stream.

One thing I’m always keeping an eye out for on a winter hike is snow caps in rivers and streams, formed when the snow falls on the water and is swept away but it still remains on rocks, plants and other items sticking up out of the creek. While geocaching near Shelburne, Ontario today I spotted this in the creek – a marshy spot with lots of little green plants wearing snow above the water line. This photo is taken using the live view feature of my camera, held about two inches off the water surface.
