Snow on the Snake Trail Boardwalk

The Snake Trail Boardwalk is 900 metres long and located in the Peninsula Club of the Bruce Trail near Wiarton. This was constructed by the Chippewa of Nawash First Nation in 1999. One of the more memorable features of the Bruce Trail that I’ve encountered in the last 500km of hiking. When we hiked it today, it was snow covered.

Hopeful Sunset

A view of the sunset from the Bruce Trail, overlooking Hope Bay where the day’s hike would be finishing. The downside to such a wonderful view from the trail is that the car was still 4 km away and darkness was coming. But we have hope!

Transition

As we arrived at the Snake Trail Boardwalk, our early spring was beginning to switch over to winter conditions …. and the path ahead reflected just that!

Snowy Day on the Bruce Trail

An early spring hike on the Bruce Trail. This was taken on the First Nations land on Cape Croker. The day started out spring like and transitioned to a winter day by the end of the hike. At this point in the day, we could still see some leaves under the snow.

Bruce Tree

A maple tree along the Bruce Trail near Wiarton, Ontario. It’s a little after peak autumn colour, yet there’s still some to be found. An old stone foundation sits in the background.

Autumn at Heber Down

The trail/road at Heber Down Conservation Area during autumn colour. I loved the wood siding holding up the hillside here.

Early Autumn in the Country

Another photo from that fence line in Caledon. Autumn is just starting to take hold here and while everything is predominantly green there are still some autumn colours to be found, like yellow.

Floral Fencing

Some goldenrod and these purple flowers beside a fence in Caledon. I decided to have some fun and use my ultrawide here instead of a more "normal" lens. I like the effect.

Thunderstorm on Gun Lake

We watched a thunderstorm approach us on Gun Lake while camping. Fortunately it fizzled before it actually reached our campsite, but not before providing some cool lightning views against the night sky.
