129/365 : CANWARN.

This was my highlight of the day. Spending a couple hours at Environment Canada’s Toronto office learning about severe weather as part of CANWARN. This is actually a refresher course for me as I’ve been spotting severe weather (from a distance) for the CANWARN program for a few years now. This is a project that started off mainly as Amateur Radio co-operating with EC to call in local severe conditions that the radar beam couldn’t see – things like severe hail, strong winds, flooding and the main reason for the program: Tornadoes. Ontario gets about 16 tornadoes a year and the message from the program is that while everyone wants to see a tornado before they die, the goal is to separate those events by as much time as possible. That’s Geoff Coulson talking at the podium in this photo.

128/365: Shepherd’s Crook.

Had a rare treat tonight, as Kristen suggested perhaps we could go to the Crook for dinner. As you can see here I disregarded that option quickly. Not 🙂

127/365: Latté Playing.
While I have more technically accurate photos from tonight’s little photo session with my best friend here, none of them quite catch her personality like this one does!

126/365 : Land Registry Office Files.

Took a few photos around town today, but turns out this one is the more interesting of them. While hanging out at ServiceOntario in Brampton today (near the court house) I noticed there was a land registry office connected to this particular location. One with self service options and the like so before leaving I wandered over and quickly took a photo of the older paper files before heading on my way to other things.

125/365: Dramatic Sky.

One thing I love about living in this part of the world – the skies we get. It’s not often we get a boring, cloud free sky. I noticed that Mother Nature is still in her “drammie” phase this evening, though not nearly as dramatic as it was yesterday. Still, a dramatic sky means one thing to me — get out the 10mm and point it that-a-way 🙂

124/365 : Foggy Driveway.

We’re in a weather cycle now that brings rain in the evening and nice, thick, fog in the morning. I slept in too late yesterday to take advantage so instead I eyeballed a few locations along my commute for the next foggy day. Nice thing about weather cycles, makes it easier to figure out when the next one is. So today I got up a little earlier and had my spot in mind as I headed out the door. This is a driveway in Norval. I like the two track with the grass going up the middle. Everything disappears into the fog of the morning.

123/365 : Toy Groceries.

Running an errand to the grocery store and remembered there is an upstairs that can be visited by the public. Upstairs means I can play tilt shift to “miniaturise” the store, and that is what I did. The blue tint is an unfortunate side product of iPhone camera and fluorescent lighting in the store.

122/365 : Getting it Outlet the Way.

This is on my way home from the office. Last year this was a perfectly ordinary looking house. Now it’s in the way of the Toronto Premium Outlets. This photo was taken from the carpool lot. Next year the house will be gone.

121/365 : Office Antique.

Stuck in an office so, indoor shot it is today. Here my muse is the antique we call the “Fax Machine”. Children born today will probably have no clue what this is after what e-mail did to the fax. Frankly I am surprised businesses still insist on having these around at all. Photo taken on an iPhone and I used Snapseed to age the heck out of it, seems more fitting to portray the office dinosaur this way to me.

120/365 : Cedar on the Credit.

Took another Sunday trip to Forks of the Credit with Kristen and our kindles. We find it’s a great spot for a picnic …. we read our kindles and listen to the sounds of the river. Since I have this photo of the day blog, I also tend to wander around with the camera a bit too. A favourite thing of mine is the simple cedar tree. Even though I can nick name them Mosquitor trees in the summer, there is nothing that brings me back to an Ontario wilderness hike quite like the smell of a cedar tree. This one grows right beside that favourite picnic spot.
