139/365 : Pre Hike.

Tomorrow I’m going on a 30km hike in 26C weather. This is part of my preparation for the hiking trip – lot’s of hydration, my GPS and a map or two.  Looking forward to some of the sights along the way, including Old Baldy, Eugenia Falls and Hoggs Falls.

138/365: Thistle Trail.

Went for my evening run in a different place today. This time I headed down the Culham Trail starting near Credit Meadows Park. About half way I spotted these thistles basking in the evening sunlight. Since I don’t go running with my DSLR, this was taken with my little Fuji camera.

137/365: Duskdelions.

Actually, this photo was an afterthought. I originally stopped to take photos at a infrequently used railway crossing but decided to snap a few quick pics of these dandelions in the light of the setting sun. These have taken over a large farm property in Caledon. I’ll go back and shoot the rail crossing again another time….

136/365: Persistence.

This little fella is not going to let a little thing like a lack of a decent growing location deter it from trying. The sapling is coming up through one of the paving stones beside my parking spot at the office. We’ll see how big it gets, or if the landscapers cut it’s life short.

135/365: Abandoned Colours.

Stopped at the now abandoned gas station at Winston Churchill/Steeles Avenue. I originally stopped for the old “CIGARETTES” sign but I fully intended to keep my eyes open for other opportunities. After 5 minutes I realized I could probably shoot the whole project on this tiny property if I wanted. My eye today was drawn to the peeling blue and red paint on the cement foundation of the building. That, and nature’s green weeds against that background. I’ll likely stop here a couple times during the project … assuming they don’t build something else here first.

134/365: Buffalo Herd.

Took the back roads in from Chatham. Well, the Morriston-Milton route anyway. One of the more unusual things to see along 15SR is this Buffalo(?) farm. Parked the car, crossed the street and took some photos though the electric fence. How do I know it was electric? The signs? Nope. The insulators? Nope. No, I had to learn the way the Buffalo do, by getting a little zap from the darned thing mid photo.

133/365 : Mother’s Day in Chatham.

Here’s what Kristen gave her mother for Mother’s day. I liked the colour and simplicity of it (it’s a scented oil diffuser – the petals of the flower are wood). Quick one strobe, off to the side shot with ambient nuked to clear out the background. Took two test shots and I had what I wanted on the third with just a bit of “chimping” the LCD to get the settings where I wanted it.

132/365 : Move it!

Friday night geocaching hijinks. Here, the BFL Crew is attempting to cross part of 16 Mile Creek after a successful cache hunt. Jeff-Trex is in the lead, and Baker’s Dozen (Ron) is offering to help Jeff along his way. Today was a great day looking for geocaches, munzees and photos. It was a little difficult to pick the photo for the day but in the end I’d say this one captures the sprit of the day’s fun the most.

131/365: Office Visitors.

Well, it’s that time of the year again. You know, when you open the front door of the office and, as you start walking the 100 feet or so to your car, a hissing sound alerts you it may be prudent to run to the car instead. The Geese are back.

Fortunately, I discovered this fact when I was already in the car, returning from lunch so the Geese decided perhaps it may be better to move the kids along and leave the 3 ton metal blue thing alone. That gave me time to grab the camera and get a family portrait for the new parents. This was taken by our receiving bay doors.

130/365 : Colourfood.

Took a trip to Square One with Kristen, after her iPhone started acting up a bit (sleep button wore out). Right outside the Apple Store is the always hard to walk past Timothy’s World Coffee. Well, we got pulled into the gravitational field tonight and apparently it’s rather colourful this time of year. Blue cupcake, Red (Velvet) Coffee (Latté) and well the table just completes the set.
