10/365 : V.I.P. cats of the Playa

One of those things I didn’t expect to see on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen today. I believe the guard / police officer here might be the one who fed these two cats. Either way he cracked a smile when he saw me taking this photo

9/365 : Incoming!

Started off taking pictures of waves today. Then, taking pictures *in* waves. Having way too much fun with the waterproof camera. While I got some great shots of waves crashing, this one I took moments before the wave crashed down (on me) is my favourite for the day. I just love how it clearly shows what the wave is intending to do to the photographer.

8/365 : Tropical Wave

About a month ago, I bought a new point and shoot camera – the Fuji XP21. The main attraction for it was the waterproof, dustproof, winter proof claims. Well, since I found myself at a tropical beach resort (Cancun), why not take the camera for a swim. Here I have that out in the waves feel by taking the camera out in the waves.

7/365 : Mexican Wedding

While I attended a wedding at a Mexican resort today, this wasn’t it. This is a view of the wedding that is still in progress at our hotel. I really liked the shadow play with the lighting, and the colour so this is my photo for the day.

6/365 : Robot Army

I am in travel mode and while I took a few photos around the terminal building, I rather like this one. I was surprised to see these INSIDE the security area … I would figure you already have a boarding pass at this point but hey they probably have some purpose. For me, ther purpose was to pose for a photo.

5/365 : Queen of Peace Church

This is along my commute, and always looks great. Today I went in for a closer look than usual, and once again the iPhone 4S is my camera of choice for the night shot.

4/365 : Holiday Lights at Mississauga Living Arts Centre. I knew I had errands to run at Square One today, so I waited until I got here for my picture of the day. The image is taken from the fountain outside the LAC, pointed at Mississauga’s City Hall. I am still quite impressed how well the iPhone 4S performs in these conditions. I used Pro HDR and handheld the photo. Normally I would want a tripod for this sort of thing.

3 of 365 : Ghost of Christmas Past This one just sort of jumped out at me during lunch. As I looked around the restaurant, a bit of red tinsel caught my eye. It is left over from the recently removed Christmas decor. Wonder how long it will remain unnoticed by the staff here …

Day 2 of 365. Today I was stuck around the house so there was a definite threat of something less interesting … then I had to run an errand that took me not too far from the abandoned Barber Mill. This is a spot I’ve explored before, so what the heck, why not. Parked the car and jumped out with my “freeze proof” Fuji camera. Of all the photos I took in there, the paint peeling on the wall was what I found most interesting. The vignette on this is a combination of the camera and the fact that all the light was coming in from the left – this paint was on the inside of one of the large door arches.

Back to work tomorrow, we’ll see what I can point the camera at for tomorrow’s post!

Day one of my 365 day photo project. I wanted the first photo to feature a number “1” in it for some reason. My original plan was to pose holding up one (index) finger or something similar. But, being the end of the holiday season, I felt I wanted something more timely. While I was taking down the Christmas lights (before the cold temperatures later this week ice them in), I realized I could have some fun with them before I put them away.

Here’s photo 1 of 365 – Simply the number “1” in Christmas Lights.
