1/365: Taking another step.

Welcome to 2013. Today I went for a hike on the Bruce Trail in Limehouse with my wife. I visited a couple geocaches and took a lot of photos. This was about a third of the way into my hike, leaving a boardwalk over a part of Black Creek above the mill pond. It was around this point in the hike that I decided, I am having so much fun taking my photo of the day, every day, that I am going to re-up and continue the Project into 2013. So, as the caption says, here’s my first steps into 2013.

365+1/365: In a Nutshell.

Technically, I finished 365 days yesterday. So what am I doing here, on Day 366? Well, some feel a 365 day project during a leap year is a 366 project. This covers both bases. Besides, I’m not done with my camera yet. I have a few hours left in 2012 and I’m mulling what to do with 2013. In the meantime, here’s 2012 in a nutshell for me. Photos and geocaching. 2013 looks to be more of the same, and I’m quite happy with that.

365/365: Sunshine!

Three Hundred and Sixty Five. That’s it, I’ve completed my first 365-Day photo project. Mind you I’m going to post a “bonus” 366 photo tomorrow given the leap year but as it stands, I made it. Mother Nature has pitched in to help me celebrate, by giving me one of those rare full sunshine after the snowstorm days that draw me right out to the woods with my camera. I took this photo, of the sun shining on the Silvercreek wetlands right before I took a 4km hike around the trails here.

364/365: Mom’s New Backyard View.

My first geocache was placed in Tillsonburg, Ontario and named after my mother. Now, she has moved to Lindsay, Ontario. Guess with a back yard view like this, I’ll have to put together a new cache adventure ….

363/365: When Geeks Go Bad.

This is taken under the 5th Street Bridge in Chatham, Ontario. I’m sure the vandal didn’t intend the extra “geeky” meaning that I’ve found in this message. FTP is, to a computer pro, File Transfer Protocol – one of the foundations of the Internet.

362/365: Sunset on Chatham.

After yesterday’s snowstorm I had it in my head to head out to the countryside and take awesome snowscape photos. But that didn’t work out, as Chatham-Kent didn’t really see much of a snowstorm after all. This barn caught my eye from Howard Line though, and that put me in a great spot when the sun dipped below the overhead clouds.

361/365: Winter, for the Birds.

Well, we had a white Christmas but Boxing Day is proving it’s no slouch either. Cue the full blown winter storm, which arrived around noon here in Chatham. This is a photo of the bird feeder in the back yard with the first snowflakes beginning to fall. Tomorrow should prove decent for a winterscape photo or three!

360/365: White Christmas.

While I took a bunch of photos this morning, Christmas Day, most of the people in them would prefer I didn’t distribute that on the Internet. So, here’s the first thing I saw today, the snow on the ground right after sunrise here in Chatham, Ontario.

358/365: Lambert’s Lights.

Popped out to visit what is probably Georgetown’s biggest residential Christmas light display, the Lambert’s Lights in the northwest section of town. It sure was nice that I didn’t have to drive into Toronto for something like this. The display features 45,000 lights and 3100 feet of extension cords for the setup. It’s all synchronized to music as well. While I took the requisite straight on photos and a small video too, this up close and personal image is the one that I felt best portrayed a sense of the spectacle. The display runs every night until 11 (12 on weekends) until January 6, 2013. If you visit, bring a donation for the hospital.
